Totara Hospice

Tōtara Hospice | Te Kahu Pairuri o Tōtara is the charity of choice for the proceeds of the EmbroidMe East Tamaki Totara Hospice Golf Event.
Your involvement and support in this event will directly provide terminally ill patients and their whānau with leading-edge specialist palliative care so they can focus on living every moment. Please click here for a letter from Tina McCafferty, Chief Executive, Totara Hospice.
Our multi-professional team is here to support your community, the Hospice Care Team provides support on many levels:
- Every day our teams are out on the road in South and South-East Auckland ensuring no one faces death alone and unsupported. Caring for terminally ill patients and their whānau in their homes.
- Our 12 bed Inpatient Unit located in the Gardens, Manurewa supports patients for various care support including:
- Management of pain or other distressing symptoms – usually a short stay
- Care for you in the final stages of your life - if care at home is no longer possible or what you wish for
- A short stay in the IPU to support you and your family to work through psychosocial issues
- A short admission where the team can focus on rehabilitation and setting you up to get back home to your life activities
- Additional to the above core services we also have our Living Well Centre, the centre incorporates palliative rehabilitation, family support,
socialisation, patient clinical care and review of individual needs. Also cultural support, well-being, education, and bereavement services.
- Our area of care covers approximately 520,000+ people which is one of New Zealand's largest and most diverse. Tōtara Hospice, however, is only partially government-funded which means each year we need your help to cover a shortfall of several million dollars.
Your support of this charity event means specialist palliative care services can continue to be provided free of charge wherever a patient calls home.
Thank you for choosing to make an impact by supporting the EmbroidMe East Tamaki Totara Hospice Golf Event and Making Hospice Happen in your community.
